Talk: The prayer nut, a tangible travel companion

Wednesday 29 July, 2.30 – 5 pm.

What do you take with you when you go on a pilgrimage? And how can a small object grow into a source of rest, hope and reflection? In this talk Wiebe tells about the origins of the prayer nut, how it is made and the stories of people who took their prayer nut with them on pilgrimage.

During the Week of Reflection, Museum De Tiid is also showing a presentation of various prayer nuts. Afterwards you can buy a prayer nut and talk with the maker.

The Titus Brandsma memorial day was an occasion to reflect on inspiration and pilgrimage. ‘The prayer nut is a travel altar for those on the way’ fitted perfectly in this setting.
